Amiri were thrilled with the award of this very special project for the Aldingbourne Trust. The contract at the Aldingbourne Country Centre in West Sussex saw us deliver a 3 storey conference facility that has been funded by their own tireless fundraising efforts and includes; a conference centre for 100 people comprising of a new entrance, reception, shop, WCs and changing facilities, a new café for visitors and staff offices. A master plan was developed for the site and the trust secured funding to kick-start this phase so that they can continue to grow and evolve the centre.  This has enabled them to continue their support of local businesses, communities and people with learning difficulties to ‘reach their potential and enjoy life together’, which is the trusts motto.  Our blogging team were assigned to this project and were making friends with the staff on their very first day.  They visited the site every 3 weeks to gather content for their next update but always made time to visit the centre itself to catch up with the different departments and see what they’d been up to.  Chris and Ben have published some fantastic progress updates and you can see all of them by clicking here…

About our blogging team:

Since August 2015 Amiri Construction have been delighted to have Ben Small and Chris Lewis, aka “The Blogging Team” as a key part of our Marketing and Business Development supply chain. They work with the Site Management teams on selected projects to digitally catalogue progress and give an idea of what is involved in the process of delivering a project on site.  Ben was born with a rare congenital medical condition called Septo-Optic Dysplasia.  This means that he has mild learning difficulties, but, refusing to be limited by his condition, he attended a Specialist School where he first met Chris, who was one of his teachers. Ben went on to local further education colleges and did very well in both Media and Business Studies.  He had been working on a voluntary basis for a couple of local IT recycling companies for about a year but was able to combine his love of media and business skills into a business when he was reunited with Chris who agreed to be his business partner and buddy and, with the support of Surrey Adult Social Care programme, “The Blogging Team” was born.  The Aldingbourne project was an ideal opportunity for Ben to demonstrate his skills in the commercial world and to show people the fantastic work that he and Chris produce.
